People often ask me what it’s like to write a book, and honestly, it’s a pretty interesting experience.
It’s definitely not all glamorous—there are plenty of late nights, coffee-fueled mornings, and moments where you stare at a blinking cursor wondering what comes next.
So today, I thought I’d pull back the curtain and share what the journey of writing my new book, REAL Confidence, has been like.
(Oh, and side note: mark your calendar—it hits shelves on February 3, 2026!)
Where it All Started: The Idea
Every book starts with one thing: an idea.
For me, the idea for REAL Confidence didn’t come in some big “aha” moment.
It came after several speaking events where I kept hearing the same questions again and again:
“How do I feel confident when I’m not?”
“How do I actually overcome doubt and fear?”
Eventually, I realized I was answering these questions in bits and pieces, but never all together.
So, I thought, “What if I wrote it all down, step-by-step?”
And that’s how the REAL Method was born.
So, What’s the REAL Method?
REAL stands for four key ideas that I’ve found are essential for building confidence:
- Respect Yourself
- Embrace Your Mistakes
- Ask Yourself What You Really Want
- Live Without Limits
These four ideas became the backbone of my book. They’re simple, but powerful. And while they might sound great on paper, the truth is that making them real takes some work.
So that’s what I decided to do—break down these concepts into real, practical steps people could actually follow.
Facing the Blank Page (It’s Real)
I have to tell you, the first time you open up a fresh document to start your book, it’s pretty intimidating.
It’s just you and that blank page—waiting.
Sometimes the words flow fast, and other times you write, erase, rewrite, and erase again.
When I was writing REAL Confidence, there were days where everything came together perfectly. I’d write entire chapters, feeling great.
And then there were the “other days.”
You know—the ones where you’re lucky if you get a single paragraph down and you wonder if maybe your computer hates you.
Writing a book isn’t just about writing words—it’s about finding your voice, organizing your ideas, and sometimes even pushing through when you’d rather binge-watch your favorite show.
Editing: When Things Get Real
If writing is climbing a mountain, editing is like climbing down without falling.
When I first sent the draft of REAL Confidence to my editor, I knew it wasn’t perfect. But seeing all those comments and edits at first? Yeah, that felt overwhelming.
But editing turned out to be the part I liked best—strangely enough. That’s when things really started to come together.
I got clearer on my message, sharpened my examples, and made sure each step of the REAL method was practical, helpful, and easy to use.
It’s funny—editing showed me again that confidence isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress.
Every edit made the book a little better, just like every step in our own lives helps us grow.
Behind-the-Scenes Struggles (The Real Stuff)
Here’s something people don’t always tell you: when you write a book, you have to face all your own doubts head-on.
You’re writing about confidence, yet you have moments where you question if you’re really the right person to talk about it.
But that’s exactly why I knew this book was needed. Because the doubts I felt were the same ones others feel.
I wanted readers to see that even someone who teaches confidence still has moments of uncertainty—and that’s okay.
I learned (and remembered) that confidence isn’t about never having doubts. It’s about how we handle those doubts.
It’s about using them as stepping stones rather than stumbling blocks.
A Book for Real Life
REAL Confidence isn’t about giving motivational speeches or pretending everything is always perfect.
It’s about real, everyday confidence—the kind we use at home, at work, with friends, or in front of a crowd.
This book gives readers real tools to use when doubts creep in.
It offers real stories to show that feeling nervous or unsure is normal, but also completely manageable.
And, of course, it’s all tied back to the REAL method—a framework anyone can use to build stronger confidence, step-by-step.
So, What’s Next?
Now that the book is finished (minus a few final edits), the real fun starts—talking about it, sharing ideas from it, and getting ready to share it with readers like you.
It’s been a long journey, but worth every minute.
Because at the end of the day, writing this book wasn’t just about sharing what I know.
It was about showing everyone who reads it that confidence isn’t some secret talent only a few lucky people have.
Confidence is something everyone can build—and keep building—every single day.
My Invitation to You
So, that’s a little peek behind the scenes of what it’s been like to write REAL Confidence.
It’s definitely been a learning experience, but also an exciting one.
If there’s something you’ve ever thought about doing but kept putting off, I encourage you to go for it.
Confidence grows strongest when we take action—especially when we’re a little unsure.
And if you’re curious to learn more about the REAL method, stay tuned—I’ll be sharing a lot more about it as we get closer to the book’s release.
February 3, 2026, is going to be here before we know it, and I honestly can’t wait to hear what you think.
Because confidence, like writing a book, is something we build together—one step, one story, and one brave moment at a time.
