I’m a big believer in powerful affirmations.
I stand in front of my mirror each morning looking myself in the eyes and repeating my daily affirmations.
I’m going to be honest, there once was a time when I thought affirmations were silly. And I didn’t really believe they worked.
But after using affirmations every day for many years, I am now a firm believer in just how effective they can be.
Affirmations can change your life. But powerful affirmations can change the world.
In today’s challenging world, I believe powerful affirmations are not just effective, but essential to our well-being.
With everything we are facing, from a pandemic to war, to racial and religious tensions, to soaring gas prices and actual food shortages, powerful affirmations will help us to stay grounded and resilient in these turbulent times.
I have a lot of affirmations in my toolkit. But, in today’s world, there are three especially powerful affirmations that I believe could make a big difference in how we face these unprecedented times.
Powerful Affirmation #1:
I will choose to see the good in every situation and react with a grateful heart.
Life is not about what happens to you—it’s about how you react to what happens to you. If we could learn this one important fact, our lives would be much easier.
Life is going to happen. Challenges are going to come. We’re going to lose people we love along the way. But we always have a choice how we’re going to react to those things when they actually do come.
If we can choose to see the good in every situation (especially the difficult ones) we will find that life can actually be joyful even in moments of sorrow.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s hard when difficult things happen. When I lost my father to cancer, there was definitely sorrow and tears. But the joy came when we sat together and remembered him by recounting all the good things he left as a legacy.
Remembering and seeing the good led us to feel grateful for the man he was and the time we had to spend with him while he was here.
If we can choose to see the good in every situation and react with a grateful heart, even the difficult days will have greater moments of joy for all of us.
Powerful Affirmation #2:
I will let go of comparisons and embrace what makes me unique.
I am the mother of six children. After my husband and I had our first three children, we felt inspired to adopt. With that single decision, we adopted a son from South Korea, a son from Ethiopia, and then a daughter from Ethiopia.
Each one of my children is unique and we have never compared them to one another. Because of this, they know their value and worth and that doesn’t change based on where they came from. We are their parents, and they are our children. We love them and we embrace what makes each of them unique.
If we want to find joy and peace in the world, we have to stop comparing ourselves and each other. We each have unique talents and characteristics that make us who we are. We’re not meant to be anyone else.
You are meant to be you!
The people in your circle of influence need your unique talents and characteristics. Stop being afraid to be yourself. Love who you are and embrace what makes you unique.
There is no one else on the planet just like you. You are amazing exactly how you are.
When we stop letting our comparisons hold us back, we can finally have the courage to step out into the unknown and make a difference in whatever direction we feel inspired to go.
The world needs you. Don’t rob them by trying to be someone else.
Comparison steals our joy and our peace. It causes contention in our own hearts and often causes tension in others.
Our world could use a lot more peace. Become a peacemaker by accepting yourself and accepting others just the way they are.
Powerful Affirmation #3:
I will choose to be kind no matter what!
I’ve written about this topic before, but I feel that it needs to be repeated over and over again.
As we continue to move through unprecedented times, there are going to be so many reasons to lash out at people.
There are going to be people who frustrate you. You will find people who struggle to know how to navigate a new way of doing things. There are going to be people who can no longer afford their groceries. And there are going to be frantic moms who can’t feed their babies because there’s no formula on the shelf.
We are seeing these things happen right before our eyes.
It’s critical that we internalize this powerful affirmation: “I will choose to be kind no matter what!”
Way too many people let their emotions get the best of them before they stop to consider what’s actually happening in any given situation.
Even if someone is intentionally being unkind to you, choose to be kind no matter what.
The world needs a little more kindness and a lot more love.
We are all just trying to do our very best. And sometimes the best someone can do is get out of bed in the morning.
We have no idea the struggles that are happening in the life of another human being. So let’s do our best to give each other the benefit of the doubt and just choose to be kind.
One of the greatest gifts we have about being human is that we get to choose how we act and how we react.
And when you choose kindness, kindness always comes back to you.
The World Needs You!
The world may seem crazy right now. But every day we have a choice. We get to choose how we are going to face the world and what we are going to bring into it.
Repeating these powerful affirmations daily will not only change your day, but they will change your life and they will change the lives of those around you.
Difficult days will certainly come in today’s world. But when those challenging situations arise, the words from these powerful affirmations will pop into your head and help you remember to choose something better.
When you choose to see the good in every situation, you will naturally feel gratitude for those good things and that gratitude will be contagious.
When you let go of comparison and embrace what makes you unique, the joy that comes from that one simple choice will lighten the hearts of those around you.
And when you choose to be kind no matter what, you will diffuse arguments, lessen contention, and spread goodness.
These three powerful affirmations have been so beneficial and life-changing for my own life, and I hope they will do the same for you.
They will help you face the world with a smile, start each day with a positive perspective, and give you the momentum you need to make a difference.
